Description

Unit 61 offers 5 rifle seasons. Early rifle runs the first 7 days of October, first rifle runs the second week of October for 5 days, second rifle runs for 9 days at the end of October, third rifle is the first 9 days of November, and fourth rifle runs for 5 days middle to late November. Depending on the weather and the location of the Elk, the hunter will either be high on the plateau in a wall tent camp or lower down in the valley tucked away in rustic cabins. This is a 5 day fully guided 1:1 hunt, with option to add additional days at no charge. Option for non-hunter observer at $150 per day. The hunter will hunt a variety of terrain with elevation ranging from 6000-10,000 feet depending on the movement of the elk herd. This is a trophy unit that will take 22- 26 points to draw as a Non-Resident hunter, and 09-17 points as a Resident hunter depending on the desired season and method of take. Hunter has option to purchase OTC bear tag if drawn for elk. No trophy fee. Hunt is opportunistic and not guided, shot only if seen. Hunting will consist of a combination of spot and stalk and hiking.

Hunter with either stay in wall tent camp accommodations at 9,000 ft. elevation, or rustic cabins in the valley floor. All beds and cots are provided by outfitter, as well as heat sources, lamps, and solar powered amenities (camp shower, lights, etc..). Accommodation location will depend on which season hunter choses to hunt.

Hunter is provided with three meals per day. All meals are homemade, meat and potatoes kind of meals. Lunch is either served in camp or in field, depending on the hunter locale. Breakfast is served prior to leaving camp for the day, lunch is served midday, and supper is served prior to evening hunt. Dessert is served upon return to camp.

Outfitter is able to cater to all physical capability levels. However, the terrain can be quite rugged at times. More physically prepared individuals will have better shot opportunities.

Transportation (To/From Basecamp)

Final destination will be either Grand Junction, CO or Montrose, CO. Transportation to and from airports is available from outfitter at a cost of $200.

Description

Most everything is provided by the outfitter, including shooting sticks, spotting scopes, bedding (mattress), towels, food, water, and transportation to and from camp if needed. Outfitter can provide sleeping bag and pillow if client is flying to final destination. Hunter should be prepared to bring toiletries, hunting clothes, sturdy hiking boots, weapon of choice and ammunition, sleeping bag and pillow, binoculars, etc. Animals harvested will be quartered and hung at camp. Local processors are nearby and available for processing meat prior to departure. Full gear list to be provided when booked.
