Description

This outfitter provides the very finest of mountain horses, great meals, comfortable tents and excellent guides. These guides, wranglers, cooks, camp jacks work around the clock to make sure your hunt is a great one. These are the hunts you have read about. Packing in by horseback, sleeping in wall tents, hunting in the pristine wilderness with no sign of modern civilization, being one with the country where you can see your game as it lives, not reacting to being pushed by other hunters, four wheelers or trucks. This is a 2:1 fully guided 8-day hunt. This is 6 actual hunting days, day 1 and day 8 will be riding to and from camp. Nonresident elk applications in WY typically open early in the year- usually opening in beginning of January and closing at the end of the month. Deer applications open later in the year and usually are available sometime mid-April and closing end of May. Elk units operable by this outfitter can be drawn with 9-13+ points in the regular drawing, or 1-7 points + points in the special drawing depending on unit selection. Deer units operable by this outfitter can be drawn with 2-7+ points in the regular drawing, or 2-4+ points in the special drawing depending on unit selection.

    • Price: $10,000.00

    Additional 3% Forest Service Tax is added to hunt total. Licenses not included in the hunt price. To purchase a point only, you will be expected to pay a flat fee of about $52 for elk and about $41 for deer. If applying for the draw, a conservation stamp (appx. $21.50) is required. If archery hunting an additional archery permit (not necessary for type 9/archery only licenses) for about $72 is required. All license fees are paid up front when applying- fees vary from special to regular drawings. Regular deer licenses cost about $389, and regular elk licenses cost about $707. Special deer licenses cost about $629, and special elk licenses cost about $1,283. It should be noted that special licenses DO NOT offer any additional or "special" privileges- special licenses are simply offered to nonresidents to pay a more expensive license fee in exchange for better draw odds. Applying in the special is recommended for those members looking to apply and draw with 0 or less than max points to draw in the regular drawing. If applicant is NOT drawn, a refund will be initiated for the license fees and a point will need purchased in the summer point purchasing period July - October. Points are NOT awarded if not drawn for elk, deer, or antelope. The application fee must also be remitted when applying (appx. $15 per species). *AVAILABLE FOR 2021 HUNTING DATES: October 7-14 and October 16-23

    Deposits are not refundable. When you make a deposit or payment that money is used to reserve your adventure dates and we cannot sell them to anyone else. If for some reason you have to cancel, you will lose your deposit and any payments you have made. If you are concerned that you might get sick or otherwise have to cancel, we suggest buying trip insurance. There are insurance companies that specialize in providing insurance policies for outfitter bookings and hunts. One such company we recommend is globalrescue.com. It is also our policy, depending on the adventure you booked and at our discretion, that if you have to cancel and we are able to book a replacement for you at the regular price we will work with you to apply your deposits to another adventure. Please note that we cannot refund or roll state or government license fees, application fees, draw results, or tags.

    This outfitter provides hunting in the wildest, most game rich environment left untouched anywhere -- to reach this is an adventure in itself. The ride to camp will take 8-9 hours on horseback. Hunters will need to be prepared to walk down any steep terrain so hunter can expect will be on and off their horses from time to time. Hunter will need to be in shape to mount and dismount as needed. This is not difficult, but seems to be a major problem the outfitter sees every year. Hunter will need to be in shape to get after game at elevation, up to 9,500 feet. Hunter will need to be able to shoot their rifle well. Every year hunters have missed shots that would have been a kill if they practiced. If you commit to a hunt like this, then commit to be in the best shape you can.     This is a 30 mile wilderness horseback trip into the most remote country in the lower 48 states. You need to be physically prepared. Although we use horses and mules daily, you will be expected to walk up to several miles a day. If you are not in shape and unprepared, this hunt may not be for you. As with anything, the harder the climb, the bigger the rewards. This outfitter has a general weight limit for hunters at 250 pounds. This limit can be discussed on a case-by-case basis if you are physically fit.

    Description

    This is a wilderness horseback elk hunt. Low temps from could be in the teens to high temps in the 80's. Appropriate clothing is important Long hours of glassing helps spot game from dawn to dusk so the best optics you can bring will be helpful. Bring the firearm that you shoot well and are comfortable with. You are up before sunup and out past sundown so bring two headlamps and batteries. Full gear list to be provided when booked.
